Sir Christopher Lee , DRACULA PRINCE OF DARKNESS finally rests

I've been a Hammer Horror fan since before the term was coined - back then we were just Hammer fans. Sir Christopher Lee obviously loomed large in the pantheon of their films and no more than as in Dracula Prince of Darkness ( his second outing as the Count). Lee brings a brilliantly feral performance to the character in this film in which he speaks no lines. Legend has it he read the script and thought it so awful he refused to speak his lines. Wether this is true or not it makes for another wonderful Hammer myth for fans to discuss. Below is a drawing I did for Little Shoppe of Horrors ( with newly added Technicolor). Dracula is about to force Diana to drink of his blood from a scratch on his chest. This idea originally came from Bram Stoker's book Dracula.

I'd like to thank him for all the entertainment he has given me over the years in his hundreds of roles. Rest in Peace finally.

JUNKYARD DEMON 2

I never quite understood the line ' I could Cocoa' that the Doctor utters as he's swept out of the Tardis in Junkyard Demon 2 ! Alan Barnes and I came up with the idea of doing a sequel to Junkyard Demon in a pub around the corner from Marvel UK's offices in Arundel Street , London. Whilst Alan *sold*the idea to Doctor Who Magazine editor Gary Russell , I drunkenly slid down the office plan chest. Gary loved the idea and the strip saw print in the Doctor Who Yearbook 1996 alongside a return strip for Beep the Meep drawn by the superior Martin Geraghty and written by upcoming DWM editor Gary Gillatt.

Below are the remaining pages of original art I have left plus designs I did for the main villians Joylove McShane and his dim witted assistant Stinker. Note that this was Stinker's first design before I redesigned him whilst drawing the strip - a not uncommon practice with me. The strip pages are 570mm by 370mm and coloured with Dr Martins Liquid Watercolours. All the art is priced and I can be contacted at adrian.salmon@btinternet.com if interested.

ELSPETH SASDY and SHADOWDANCE

SHADOWDANCE is a 25 part daily strip starring Terry Sharp and Elspeth Sasdy who starred in THE FACELESS : A Terry Sharp Story graphic novel  http://www.amazon.co.uk/Faceless-Terry-Sharp-Story/dp/1582405166/ref=sr_1_1/203-1438657-3611926?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1182276633&sr=1-1.

SHADOWDANCE was flash animated and briefly saw life on the Fangoria website. Since then it's not been seen. I'd quite like it to feature in Terry's next book - when that will be is anyones guess but I thought I'd share day 1 sans lettering.

MERRY CHRISTMAS !

'Bout time ...

About time I posted some new art on the blog. As some of you will know I'm being treated for cancer at the moment so things are up and down. I did these pieces just before I was operated on , for the latest ish of Little Shoppe of Horrors - the Hammer film magazine I contribute art to with such comic luminaries as Bruce Timm , Neil Vokes and Shane Oakley. The latest magazine concentrates on their early 1970s Shaw Fu combo horror about Dracula and seven mythical golden vampires ! I managed three pieces for the issue but grab a copy because there is plenty of other art and good reading to be had.

AS

THE FACELESS - some pages.

Am thinking of resurrecting this style so here's some unlettered pages from The Faceless: A Terry Sharp Story. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Faceless-Terry-Sharp-Story/dp/1582405166/ref=sr_1_1/203-1438657-3611926?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1182276633&sr=1-1

POISON SKYS Alt TIMETEAM

This is the initial illustration I finished for the POISON SKYS Timeteam page.Editorial loved it before they realised I'd goofed and drawn it the wrong dimensions! This issue required a vertical piece of art. I  accepted my mistake and set about drawing a third image for the issue - Donna about to clobber the Sontaran guard ( seen in the latest mag). So here's what we'd orginally lovingly planned so you can at least enjoy it here.
